At the end of October, the musicians from the u15 and u18 groups in Craobh Phiarais went on a trip to Sitges in Catalonia for an Irish-Catalan music festival organised by Creative Connexions. There was a wonderful mix of music there from trad to songs from The Jungle Book.
We made some great friends from Armagh, Carlow and Bray who went to the festival too, and even organised to have a gaelic football match against the Armagh group on a Barcelona Gaels pitch!
There were exciting seisiúns on every night in the hotel where we were staying (the neighbours weren’t too happy about that). We played and sang with the Armagh and Carlow groups until all hours of the morning. We also had the great experience of playing in a CD launch concert with the fiddler Mossie Martin.
We’re all really looking forward to seeing everyone back again next year, adding to the fun, the music and the friendship. Here are some great photos from John Grey and Brian Boyle of the festivities.
